As 2023 draws to a close, it's the perfect moment to reflect on the strides we've made at Disco–strides that redefine how we learn together online and build the foundation for an exciting future. This year's innovations not only enhanced our platform's capabilities but also deepened our impact on the global learning community.

A Year in Review

The Release of Our Powerful New Features 

In 2023, Disco elevated its platform with features like advanced automations, streamlined member onboarding, AI Co-Pilot, discussions, memberships, a revamped content library, and much more. We’ve provided learning business operators with tools to build and deliver seamless, efficient, and engaging learning experiences at scale.

Our productivity tools have enabled our customers to save 100s of hours on manual and repetitive operational tasks. From automating welcome messages to automatically adding learners to specific groups or products, automations not only save operators time and resources, they help to create a more cohesive and seamless experience for learners.

Customized member onboarding, one of our standout features, has revolutionized how operators welcome and integrate new members. Onboarding empowers operators to capture important information and insights, which they can leverage to inform their events, courses, introductions, groups, and community programming. Onboarding also effectively encourages members to answer questions that help them clarify their needs and goals–-making it a key part of their transformative learning journey. 

The introduction of memberships was a game-changer, offering new, sustainable revenue models to operators. We recognize that community-powered learning businesses come in all shapes and sizes, and our goal is to ensure that we make monetization as flexible and effortless as possible. With memberships operators are empowered to design and offer different levels of access to their members while generating recurring revenue. 

Our revamped content library is a space where operators can showcase their lessons, guides, and evergreen resources in an organized and accessible way for all members–-ensuring they can deliver continuous value alongside events, courses, programs. 

This year we also released member and content management systems designed to help operators save time and work more efficiently by having everything they need in one place. Our member management system enables operators to easily view, search, sort, and filter members and send bulk messages to specific members or groups. And our content management system is a central hub where operators can import important content in various media formats and make and apply edits universally wherever the content is used. 

Our deep integration with Slack has been another milestone, allowing learning communities to maintain continuity in their preferred communication tools while leveraging Disco's robust learning environment. This blend of familiarity and innovation has been key in providing a seamless transition for many of our partners and their members.

There have been many more improvements and additions made to the product. From our updated navigation to our revamped channels, DMs, and threads. Our aim has been and continues to be to create a world class product that enables operators to save time, increase productivity and member engagement, while delivering a seamless, branded experience to learners that drives transformative results. ‍

Introduction of AI Co-Pilot

2023 also saw the integration of AI Co-Pilot into Disco, a groundbreaking move that has redefined member engagement. This feature leverages artificial intelligence to provide timely, context-aware responses to members, ensuring that each interaction is meaningful and productive.

This implementation of AI into our product is only the beginning. We’ll be sharing more about our vision for AI in 2024.‍

The Learning Community Flywheel

In our pursuit to empower both operators and learners, we developed the Learning Community Flywheel—a system that informs how we design and build Disco. Born out of countless conversations with customers and learning community experts, the flywheel is a framework that outlines the essential 4-part system that powers a successful and sustainable community-powered learning business. 

Based on the flywheel, we launched the Learning Community Playbook—the playbook, downloaded by 1000s of operators worldwide, is a comprehensive guide designed to help operators navigate the nuances of building, nurturing, and growing vibrant learning communities.

‍‍Notable Award and Partnerships 

In 2023, we onboarded hundreds of incredible learning communities to Disco. Our collaboration with visionary organizations like XPRIZE and altMBA has been a testament to Disco's versatility and impact. Our customers span across the globe, representing every continent, delivering transformative learning experiences across diverse industries. From climate schools, to DEI programs, to female-founder communities, we are immensely proud of the impact these organizations–-and their members—are making in the world.

This year also spotlighted Disco on the global stage. We were honored to be named one of Fast Company’s Most Innovative in Education and be awarded EdTech Breakthrough’s Startup of The Year.
